OUR VALUES

Through their collective experience, Tim, Charlie, and Dan have developed a shared set of values that has helped them be successful in their business ventures. They are shared below in the hope that they will shed some light on the philosophy, approach, and character of the Penion Team.

Think Long Term.
"Our favorite holding period is forever" (Warren E Buffet)

Our search philosophy encourages us to think with an extended view. We are not in the "quick fix" and "quick turn" business. We are looking for a company that we can hold for the long term, building on a strong foundation and finding ways to make it stronger and more enduring in the years to come.

Keep it Simple.
"So much of what we call management consists in making it difficult for people to work." (Peter F Drucker)

We need to do the simple things well before we spare an ounce of energy on more complicated matters.

Clear Goals and Accountability.
"Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hope." (Peter F Drucker)

Clear goals and accountability are the foundation of high performance teams. Without them it is impossible to experience the satisfaction of success.

Lead with Action.
"An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory." (Freidrich Engels)

Speech is conveniently located between thought and action, where it often substitutes for both. Take action every day, even if there is a chance of a misstep. Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction.

Life Long Learning.
"Learning is not compulsory...neither is survival." (W Edwards Deming)

The demise of great companies can often be linked to their unwillingness to learn. Learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. One of the most pressing tasks when leading change is to help others to open their minds to new ideas.

Abandon Assumptions.
"Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible." (Albert Einstein)

Most of our limitations are based on assumptions and opinions that we hold. By abandoning our assumptions we find new and ways to unleash opportunities.

Have fun along the way.
"Just Play. Have Fun. Enjoy the Game" (Michael Jordan)

Life is too short, enjoy it while you can.
